Johnston & Murphy Steps Up Omni-Channel Commerce with Demandware2014-6-25
Burlington, Mass. – June 25, 2014 – Demandware®, Inc. (NYSE: DWRE), the industry-leading provider of enterprise cloud commerce solutions, today announced that Johnston & Murphy (J&M), the premium footwear, accessories and apparel brand, has migrated its digital commerce operations onto the Demandware Commerce platform. J&M recently launched a new ecommerce site, www.johnstonmurphy.com, on Demandware and plans to leverage the platform to further advance its omni-channel initiatives, including using responsive web design to enable mobile optimized shopping experiences, and the integration of online and offline channels to provide customers with “buy anywhere, fulfill anywhere” capabilities.
J&M is a division of Genesco Inc., a specialty retailer that sells footwear, headwear, sports apparel and accessories in more than 2,571 retail stores throughout North America and Europe. J&M is the second Genesco brand to run on Demandware Commerce, following Trask (www.trask.com), a specialty footwear and leather goods provider.
“Our customers expect increasingly sophisticated shopping experiences, so for Johnston & Murphy, we started with a refresh of our ecommerce site. Our next step will be to optimize our site for mobile devices and eventually take digital into our stores, working toward a true omni-channel experience,” said Heather Marsh, vice president of ecommerce at Johnston & Murphy. “With Demandware, we have a powerful, yet agile platform that will help us move faster to achieve our ultimate goal of omni-channel enablement.”
The J&M customer is an affluent, digitally savvy consumer who typically knows what he or she wants. For J&M, it was critical that its online channels capture the same brand experience that it provides in its physical stores, making it fast and easy to find products through sophisticated search and rich product detail. J&M selected Demandware’s cloud solution because it provides a feature-rich commerce platform with both out-of-the-box functionality that can be deployed quickly, as well as an integrated customization environment that allows the brand to continually enhance the shopping experience with new and innovative features across channels. In addition, Demandware’s cloud model eliminates the burden of managing servers and back-end infrastructure, freeing up resources to focus on delivering best-in-class consumer experiences.
“Johnston & Murphy is an iconic brand known for both quality and style, two attributes that have helped establish its loyal following,” said Jeffrey Barnett, COO at Demandware. “With Demandware, Johnston & Murphy can meet the evolving demands of its customer base, while delivering a consistent digital shopping experience that is true to the brand across every shopping channel.”
